• We are aiming after our first year, to be fully registered as 1% for the planet Airbnb business. This is a great community of brands that donate profits annually to charity, causes or offset programmes that help to make the world a better place.

SUSTAINABLE HOT TUB?

As you know we have a hot tub here, this is to maximise your enjoyment on holiday as it is not something that most people have at home. But of course, it costs electricity to keep it heated every day, the water consumption, we can’t lie, is huge as we change it regularly to make sure it is safe and clean for our guests.

We researched the market in detail, so we know the hot tub we have installed is one of the most well insulated out there and keeps warm each day using the lowest amount of electricity possible.

Additionally, we installed an outside hot tap to enable us to fill up the hot tub to the right temperature limiting the electricity needed to make it warm for you on changeover days.

USING THE HOT TUB
  • As we know the biggest problems with our hot tub is both water and electricity. So with that in mind, we have chosen two causes to donate to offset the impact of the hot tub. This will include both 1% of our profit as well as any income made from being an Amazon Associate.

OCEANS TO EARTH

With the dangers of climate change and pollution becoming an increasing concern over the past decade or so, it’s become more important than ever for people to help our planet and ‘do our part’.

Oceans to Earth is a UK-based community interest company based in Poole, Dorset and is the brainchild of local environmentalists, Jake Sculthorp and Rosie Bailey. The organisation aims to go above and beyond to provide the resources and information which help allow people to get involved and help out.

The main aim of Oceans to Earth is to help make the world become a better and cleaner place. It is committed to building strong relationships with individuals, businesses, schools and other organisations to help them find cost effective solutions to their own environmental challenges around waste and carbon offset.

KELP FOREST ALLIANCE

So, you may not know that the fastest route to helping reduce carbon emissions in the atmosphere is actually not growing more trees, but growing Kelp.

Kelp is a type of brown algae seaweed that can grow up to 2 feet a day, making it one of the fastest growing organisms on the planet. Like plants on land, seaweed uses photosynthesis to absorb CO2 and grow biomass.

Kelp, and most seaweeds and algae, have huge potential to be the large-scale solution for global warming and the key player in fighting climate change.

Kelp Forest Alliance are working hard to protect and restore our kelp forests all around the world and we are supporting them to do the following:

  • Restore and protect our kelp forests.
  • Revive fisheries and draw down carbon.
  • Lead the way to a nature positive ocean.

PEARTREES SHOP

In addition to the donation from profits we make, we have also set up a Shop just in case you wanted to get any of the products for your home.

In the Brands We Love area, we have collated a range of planet-friendly businesses we work with, or ranges we have used within the home.

Where we have listed a product from Amazon, in our Amazon Eco collection, we have also included an affiliate link. What does this mean? Amazon will pay us a small percentage of the purchase price and we will include this in our donations to the two causes listed above.
